General Grievous Impressionist by kohse General Grievous Impressionist by kohse
I did a live painting demo during a signing a few weeks ago. Just before I started, a girl was asking about impressionist techniques so instead of doing my usual realistic style I did an impressionist painting of General Grievous so I could show her what I was talking about.

This is my first attempt at impressionism.

Thanks but I have to be honest with you, I never did this before. I used a pallet knife to throw some paint on the canvas and define my figure, then I used a small brush for the details. No conscious technique, just slathering paint. In fact if I had to describe a it, I would describe this technique more like buttering toast than painting.

Thanks for the comment, that was really flattering.
